A square combined crossflow cooling tower is a type of cooling tower commonly used in industrial processes to remove heat from a system. Square combined crossflow cooling towers are commonly used in industrial settings such as power plants, refineries, petrochemical plants, HVAC systems, and other facilities where large amounts of heat need to be dissipated.

How it works:

 

1. Cooling: Hot water is pumped from the industrial process to the top of the cooling tower and distributed over the packing. As the water descends along the packing media, it comes into contact with air flowing horizontally through the tower, promoting heat transfer from the water to the air.
2. Heat Transfer: As the air blows over the water, it removes heat through evaporation and heat transfer, causing the water to cool in the cooling tower.
3. Recovery and Discharge: The cooled water is collected at the bottom of the tower and can be recycled back into the process or discharged.
4. Heat Release: The heat transferred to the air is eventually released to the atmosphere through evaporation and convection.
